It’s History – Meats BBQ, Kentucky Fried Chicken Building Bites the Dust

Boom, it's gone. Guess the time had come for the old Bristow Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant, more recently Meats BBQ building to go away. And go away it did yesterday. The heavy equipment on site made short work of tearing down the structure as large dump trucks pulled in and out to cart away the debris.

Bristow Saturday in the Park Celebrations!

Start your day off the Bristow Boy Scout Troop serving up a great pancake breakfast - from 7:00am - 9:00am. Children's activities and vendors will be going non-stop from 10:00am to dusk. Bounce houses ($3 individual, $15 all day). The American Legion will be overseeing the Horseshoe Tournament. Music on the stage. The pool will be open at 1:00pm and remain open until 6:00pm ($3). Bristow Has Talent competition will run from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. BBQ Taster Kits available from 4:30pm - 7:00pm ($9) and announcement of BBQ Winners at 7:00pm. The pool reopens at 7:00pm for night swim! And from 6:oopm to 7:30pm The Plums will be performing on stage. The BIG INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS blast off at dusk.

It’s Heating Up – For Patriotism on the Park Celebration!

July 1st is right around the calendar corner and the Bristow Chamber of Commerce is again reaching out (a friendly reminder) for volunteers, sponsors, vendors, BBQ contestants, and Children's Booth Games creators. The all-day / all-evening event will blast into the skies with loads of kid's activities, great food, the BBQ contest, local artist performances and talent contest, a huge fireworks and so much more. Oklahoma Cities Top Nation For Small Biz Start Ups

Think Bristow for Business! WalletHub recently analyzed the top 150 U.S. cities based on population for their 'friendliness' to entrepreneurs. They ranked the cities based on three key dimensions: 1) Business Environment, 2) Access to Resources and 3) Business Costs. Oklahoma City and Tulsa topped the list as #1 and #4 respectively. Geographically situated between the two and linked by I-44, Route 66 and rail is Bristow, which shares the Oklahoma small business-friendly environment and cost structure.

Bristow Pool Set To Open on Saturday

No doubt there are many anxious kiddos in Bristow awaiting their first cooling plunge into the Bristow City Pool. We stopped by yesterday to check on the progress in readying the pool. Tara Mattox, the Manager of the facility told us that barring an unforeseen issue, the pool will be open for swimming on Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00pm.

Memorial Day Services in Bristow

Today is a day of remembrance of our fallen soldiers - a day to honor their sacrifice and their memory. Today in Bristow, local Boy Scout Troop 157, the American Legion, the V.F.W, Bugles Across America and Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home join up to bring us the Bristow Memorial Day Service. The service will kick off at the Bristow City Cemetery at 11:00am with the BSA Troop 157 posting of Colors.

Bristow Chamber Announces Patriotism in the Park Plans

The Bristow Chamber of Commerce has released its plans for the 3rd Annual Patriotism in the Park event and activities. The Independence Day celebration will be held at the Bristow City Park / Lake Messina on Saturday July 1st, 2017. The park will be filled with family, friends, food, fun, fireworks and local entertainment.
