Bristow Celebrates the Life of Brian Burden

As we write this today, the friends and family of Brian Burden are together at Freeland Center mourning the loss, and perhaps more importantly, celebrating the life of our neighbor, friend, and hero to many of our school kids. We will miss Principal Burden and thank you for your service to our community and your fine example for our kids. And we send along our thoughts and prayers for his family and dear friends.

Obituary for Anna Estelle Brown

Anna Estelle Brown was born February 14, 1942 to Carl and Anna Sexton.  She departed this life November 28, 2019 at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 14 days. Anna grew up in and around the Milfay area and was a graduate of Milfay School.   Anna and Charles Brown were married in 1967; to this union were born two children.  She worked in many different facets throughout her life to support her family such as a seamstress, home health aide and homemaker.  Anna loved to crochet doilies and gave them often as gifts.  Spending the day with her grandchildren was always a highlight; as they would often share in her love of baking and cooking as well as relaxing while reading or working crossword puzzles.

Floyd Gene Everett Ledbetter was born December 20, 1958 to Lahoma Virgalene and Floyd Gene Everett Ledbetter Sr. in Bristow, Oklahoma.  He departed this life September 2, 2019 at the age of 60 years, 8 months and 13 days. He spent most of his life living in Holdenville before moving to Depew 10 years ago.  He worked as a cement finisher and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Russell Dwayne Dykes was born April 20, 1955 to Jimmie and Beulah Dykes in Red Oak, Iowa. He departed this life December 26, 2017 at the age of 62 years 7 months and 6 days. “Bud” as everyone knew him, grew up in Red Oak where he graduated in 1973. He was a long time resident of the Bristow community moving here from Red Oak in the early 1980’s. On September 11, 1987 Russell Dykes and Teresa Boynton Frazier were united in marriage. Bud was self-employed with his company Dykes Maintenance. He loved his family and grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, sometimes sitting for hours watching deer and listening to the birds.

Lavina Belle Youngblood was born May 6, 1938 to Raymond and Bessie Conner in Cedar Creek, Missouri. She departed this life December 23, 2017 in Bristow, Oklahoma. She attended public schools in Kirbyville, Missouri. Lavina was attending a revival at the age of fifteen when she met the love of her life, Sherman Youngblood. Four days later, on October 12, 1953 just before he was deployed to Korea, Sherman Youngblood and Lavina Conner were united in marriage. From this union were born one son, Terry Leon and two daughters, Debbie and Cindy.
