Jack Dowdy

September 23, 1945 – February 16, 2018

Jack Boyd Dowdy Sr., a lifelong Bristow resident, was born September 23, 1945 to Boyd and Beatrice Dowdy in Bristow, Oklahoma.  He departed this life February 16, 2018 at the age of 72 years 4 months and 24 days.

Jack grew up attending Bristow Public Schools and was a member of the graduating class of 1963.  In 1966, Jack met the love of his life, Ivola Blakley.  They were wed four months later on November 21, 1966.  To this union were born three sons.  Jack worked many years to support his family as a welder, retiring from Process Manufacturing.  He had a great talent for working with wood.  Jack loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church when his health permitted.  As well, Jack loved spending time with his family.  Weekends were a family affair filled with grilling, firing up the smoker, fishing or camping; along with making time for the Dallas Cowboys, OU football and Jesus, without fail.

He is survived by his wife of the Bristow home; three sons, Jack Boyd Dowdy Jr. of Bristow, Steven Allen Dowdy and wife Michele of Yukon and Jeffery Dale Dowdy of Sapulpa; one sister, Carolina King Low; nine grandchildren, Richie, Farron, Amber and Evan Dowdy, Zach and Matthew Hall, Presley, Ethan and Paul Dowdy; and four great grandchildren, Walker Hall, Blair, Bailey and Grayson Dowdy.  He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Boyd Allen Dowdy Jr. and one sister, Beatrice Ellen Dowdy.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00AM, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Faith Baptist Church in Slick, Oklahoma with Pastor Steve Lamberson officiating.
