Russell Dwayne Dykes of Bristow

April 20, 1955 – December 26, 2017

Russell Dwayne Dykes was born April 20, 1955 to Jimmie and Beulah Dykes in Red Oak, Iowa.  He departed this life December 26, 2017 at the age of 62 years 7 months and 6 days.

“Bud” as everyone knew him, grew up in Red Oak where he graduated in 1973.  He was a long time resident of the Bristow community moving here from Red Oak in the early 1980’s.  On September 11, 1987 Russell Dykes and Teresa Boynton Frazier were united in marriage.  Bud was self-employed with his company Dykes Maintenance.  He loved his family and grandchildren dearly.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors, sometimes sitting for hours watching deer and listening to the birds.

He is survived by his wife; Teresa “Terry” of the Bristow home; mother, Beulah Dykes of Red Oak, Iowa; three children and their spouses: Colleen Frazier (Ryan Cloud) of Bristow, Sarah Gentry (John) of Hendersonville, TN, and James Dykes Sr. (Angelica) of Bristow, eight grandchildren; Autumn Frazier, Patience Strutton, William Smith, Clay Cloud, Kimberly Dykes, James Dykes Jr, Wiley Dykes, and Akale Dykes. He is also survived by his six sisters and their spouses; Ronda Tippery (Marvin) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ruth Trudgeon (Gary) of Lebanon, Oregon, Cheryl Barbour of Red Oak Iowa, Teresa Hester (Dennis) of Spring, Texas, Kathy Newell (Steve) of Bristow, Jimmie Most (Monte) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, one brother and his spouse, Roger Dykes (Julie) of Callendar, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and first wife Linda Thompson Dykes.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00am Friday December 29, 2017 at the Hutchins-Maples Matherly Chapel.
