Gracie Mae Root

Gracie Mae Franks Root came into this life on March 26, 1938. She was born to Charles Monroe Franks and Mary Juanita (Threlkeld) Franks. She departed this life on March 26, 2017 at her home in Bristow. She grew up in Bristow with her brother Lawrence W. Franks. They had a close knit family and lots of cousins. She attended Bristow Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1956. She met the love of her life Kenneth R. Root and they dated all through high school and were married after graduating in May of 1956. Once she became a part of the Root Family, it added lots of new sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; there were always huge gatherings with lots of family and she became known as Aunt Grace. In 1964, Kenneth and Grace opened a business in Tulsa, Oklahoma known as Videon, which is still in operation by their children.
Grace loved people and always made people feel at home in her house. She enjoyed watching birds and loved flowers of all kinds. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy with her friends.
She survived by daughter Kathy Ann Root of Bristow and son Kenneth Charles Root and wife Tammy of Tulsa; her brother, Lawrence W. Franks and wife Mary Franks of Bristow; granddaughters Angela Daugherty and Molly Moore, grandson Ryan Root Mayberry and his wife Brandi and their children, Myah Mayberry, Ty Mayberry, Breanna Neal, Haven Dennis and Asher Dennis; granddaughter Kendra Root and her husband Chris Samples and great granddaughter Kenslei Samples; grandson Kenneth F. Root and his wife Amy Root as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Juanita Franks, husband, Kenneth R. Root, and one brother Leonard Monroe Franks.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday March 29, 2017 at Bristow First Free Will Baptist Church. Viewing will be at Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home on Tuesday March 28th from 5pm to 8pm.
