No doubt there are many anxious kiddos in Bristow awaiting their first cooling plunge into the Bristow City Pool. We stopped by yesterday to check on the progress in readying the pool. Tara Mattox, the Manager of the facility, told us that, barring an unforeseen issue, the pool will be open for swimming on Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00pm.
City and Pool staff were preparing to shock the pool and the process of getting the water quality and pH set for swimming. Kudos to everyone for the earlier maintenance preparations – the pool itself as well as the deck areas and building all look great. Lots has been accomplished to make our rather ‘aged’ pool safe and attractive and ready for the fun to come.
In talking with Tara, I was astounded to learn that she has been working at the Bristow Pool since 1998, beginning as a lifeguard. Prior to to being hired she was at the pool frequently, and was encouraged to get her Lifeguard Certification, which she did. Today, she is the one in charge.
The Bristow Pool normal operating hours (open swim times) will be 1pm – 6pm Tuesday – Saturday and 2pm – 6pm on Sundays. The pool is closed Mondays.
Admission this weekend is $2.00 per person. Children under 3 are free with a paid admission. But I understand the admission will go up next week to $3.00 on expected City Council action on Monday. The Season Pass will remain at $75.00, with additional Pass holders at $25.00 each.
Also, keep in mind that the Bristow Pool can be booked for private swim parties. Give them a call for the details at 918-367-6685.
Again, kudos to Tara and the City staff for such an outstanding job! Now let’s go make a splash.
