For the last several years the Polar Express has energized the Bristow community around the holidays and provided a key impetus for special Christmas activities. But the Polar Express isn’t coming to Bristow in 2016. Guess we shouldn’t blame the Grinch, but darn it, it was a great ‘rallying call’ for our Christmas celebrations here in town.
Our view is that the Bristow spirit won’t be broken. The Polar Express was a B12 shot in the arm, yes, but the energy it initially created, and the volunteerism it created, has been on display ever since. Just look at the exceptional Patriotism in the Park event this year, or the New Year’s Eve celebration. We have an energized. ‘WE BELIEVE” mindset now, and it won’t be put down.
To that end, our Mayor, Leonard Washington, has asked the Bristow Chamber of Commerce to take the lead in planning for Christmas holiday activities.
The Chamber has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, July 21 at 6:30pm in the Bristow City Council Chambers. The meeting is open and everyone is encouraged to attend and bring their ideas. Together, we can make Christmas 2016 the best ever in Bristow!
We hope to see a packed house…
