Aleta Schmitt
February 17, 1934 – November 10, 2016
Aleta Schmitt was born February 17, 1934 to John and Ida Horn in Bristow, Oklahoma. She departed this life November 10, 2016 at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 24 days.
She graduated from Bristow High School. On March 19, 1969 Aleta Horn and Gerald “Rocky” Folsom Schmitt were united in marriage. They enjoyed over 30 years together before his passing January 9, 2000.
She had worked as a phlebotomist in her younger years and later worked 18 years for Walmart in their shoe department. Aleta loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She attended countless ballgames and activities to show her support for them. She volunteered delivering for meals on wheels. She enjoyed looking at recipe books, putting together puzzles, playing cards and also domino’s.
She is survived by one son, Jared Schmitt and wife Ann of Milfay, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Michael and Tyler Schmitt of Milfay; she was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.
She greatly appreciated the care she received from her friend and caregiver, Shirley Towler, Rivercross Hospice and the ladies of Prairie Pointe Assisted Living Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Tuesday at the Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Chapel with Brother Harold Gaches officiating. Interment will follow at the Stroud City Cemetery.
