Edna E. Mitchell

Edna E. Mitchell was born May 24, 1937 to Eddie and Eloise (Stallworth) Moore in Brewton, Alabama. She departed this life July 11, 2016 at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 17 days.

Edna graduated from Southern Normal High School in Brewton, Alabama. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Tulsa University and then attended Oklahoma University where she received her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Edna worked as a licensed Clinical Social Worker for many years.

Edna Moore and Howard Mitchell were united in marriage on December 17, 1960 in Poteau, Oklahoma. To this union were born two children, Bill and Kimmi. They have made Bristow their home since 1961. Edna was a member of the Bristow Presbyterian Church where she was known as an avid prayer warrior. She enjoyed early morning walking, doing volunteer work, cooking for family, eating grapes and okra; and most of all, taking care of her husband, Howard.

She is survived by her husband, Howard of the Bristow home; one son, Bill Mitchell and wife, Kim, of Bristow; one daughter, Kimmi Natt and husband, Bruce, of Jenks, Oklahoma; one brother, David Moore and wife, Cliffie, and one sister, Claudine Moore, all of Brewton, Alabama; three grandchildren, Lincoln and Logan Mitchell and Truman Natt. She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Aaron Moore and Carl Moore.

A Memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Bristow Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rebecca Morad officiating. Contributions may be made to the Bristow Presbyterian Backpack program and prison ministry.
