John Barnes of Bristow, Oklahoma

John Lee Barnes was born February 8, 1958 to Jonathan Eugene Barnes and Freddie Mae Barnes. He departed this life December 5, 2016 at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 27 days.

He was a 1976 graduate of Bristow High School. He moved back to Bristow in 2000. On August 25, 1985 John Barnes and Cheryl Green were united in marriage, they enjoyed 23 years together before her passing May 8, 2009.

He had worked in the oilfield business his entire adult life most recently as a pipeline coating specialist and a safety supervisor.

He enjoyed watching football on television especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners. He also liked playing video games, traveling and hiking. He loved being outdoors; he visited numerous state and national parks. He loved animals with special attention to his black Labrador retriever “Jacob”.

He is survived by one daughter, Kiana Lou Chandler of Bristow; one son, Jesse Lee Barnes of Bristow; one sister, Mary Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas; one granddaughter, Krishele Prejean; He was preceded in death by his father and wife.

A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
