Leray Hobson
March 15, 1944 – September 27, 2017
Leray Hobson was born March 15, 1944 to Thurman and Peggy Hobson in Depew, Oklahoma. He departed this life September 27, 2017 at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 12 days.
He attended Bristow Public Schools through his junior year. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he graduated. Leray went to work for Phillips 66 where he trained for a year. Following the completion of his training, Leray moved to Chickasha and later transferred to Henryetta, where he would be asked to manage. He also worked in Tahlequah and Bartlesville. Moving to Bristow, Leray purchased Dial Oil Company that stayed in operation for 15 years. He then partnered in a company named “Systems Design Installation” an independent contractor for American Airlines. He later retired from Beasley Technology Inc.
On November 14, 1985, Leray Hobson and Goldie Stice were united in marriage. They enjoyed going to the park together feeding the ducks and geese; taking special interest in a goose named “Sadie”. He also enjoyed working on computers, spending time with his grandchildren and watching television.
A covenant member of the Trinity Baptist Church, Leray was one the oldest male members and enjoyed being active in any way he could.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie Stice-Hobson of the Bristow home; six children, Lori Plotts and husband Greg of Bristow, Alan Hobson and wife Deborah of Bristow, Randy Hobson of Tulsa, Cindy Stice of Bristow, Curtis Stice and wife Karen of Bristow and Chris Stice of Tulsa; one sister, Karen Manus and husband Jackie of Bristow; one brother Jeff Matlock of Bristow; ten grandchildren, Cassie Latshaw and husband Josh, Lauren Mitchell and husband Kyle, Jon Hobson and wife Krystal, Haylee James, David Hobson, Randal Hobson, Tiffany Plotts and fiancé Tyler Barnett, Kelsey Kuykendall and husband Austin, Matthew Kerley and fiancé Hayley Harryman, Dakota Stice and girlfriend Brooklyn Bogle; and five great grandchildren, Noah Latshaw, Lila Latshaw, Hallee Mitchell, Khrista James and Westin James. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Friday, September 29, 2017 Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor John Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow at the Bristow City Cemetery.
