Karleen attended school at Bristow Public Schools. She was united in marriage to Carl Ongstad on December 7, 1999. They enjoyed many years together until his passing in 2009. Karleen enjoyed puzzles, reading books and music. She especially enjoyed dancing and had won trophies in jazz dancing contests.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, L.D. Orcutt and Sammy Orcutt and three sisters, Jean Poulter, Lola Hicks and Molly Bennett.
