Gary and Denise Brown were sure thinking outside the box with this combination – a dry cleaners and coffee bar? But what a winner.
I had stopped by back in May and talked with Gary. At the time, they were in the process of rebuilding the flooring – installing new “bones”. Through the process, Bristow Cleaners & Coffee Shop has been able to serve its dry cleaning and laundry customers via their drive-thru window.
But back to the coffee shop…
Wanted to see first-hand how everything had turned out with this ambitious project. In a word, inspired. The feel inside is a mix of warm comfort (the beautiful wood flooring) and a modern, clean, austere ambience. From floor to ceiling, the attention to details is evident. Bottom line, it’s a really nice spot to just sit and relax with friends and neighbors and enjoy the food and beverage choices offered.
So what are they?
In the beverage department, they offer up Americano Coffee, Cappuccino, Espresso, Chai Tea Latte, Frappes, Hot Chocolate, Hot Tea, Lattes, Macchiato, Mocha and Spiced Cider. Drinks range from $1.95 – $4.25.
Their bakery menu is equally rich: An assortment of cookies, brownies and bars; Cheesecake, Strawberry Tuxedos (goes with their tuxedo rentals, sort of – though these tuxedos are PURCHASE ONLY AND EDIBLE) and Chocolate Turtles; plus an assortment of muffins and coffee cakes – and a great specialty item – Shelby’s Chocolate Cupcakes with Cream Cheese filling. Something to satisfy the taste buds of most anywhere here.
The young ladies to the right in the photo engaged and vetted me fully as to why I was taking photos in there. Good natured – all. I assured them there was no nefarious intent, just preparing to spread the word.
As an aside, I was over at Coop’s Stop ‘n Shop with Chris ‘Coop’ early Friday morning and somehow we got on the subject of Bristow Cleaners’ new operation. He told me he had picked up some cookies there for he and his team. Gather from him and the gal behind the register that they were outstanding. Back at Bristow Cleaners that afternoon, I recounted the compliment and learned Coop had made a second trip back for more cookies. Hope he shared because he is now outed.
Stop by and check out the new digs. Denise and Gary are really to be commended. What a great addition to the community. With their place, along with Route 66 Nutrition with its energizing teas, shakes and smoothies, and the new bread / bakery shop – Bristow’s Custom Cakes & Breads – next to Bristow Tire, and Abounding Grace / The LunchBox, we have some wonderful new, fun businesses to enjoy in Bristow.
