Dancin’ in the Streets – Saturday!

A morning of fun for the whole family. Dance in the streets with Bristow's own DJ Rick Vyper. National Dance Day was started in 2010 by Nigel Lythgle (Producer) and Adam Shankman (Director) from the hit show 'So You Think You Can Dance' as a way to fight obesity and to remind everyone that healthy can be fun.

Obituary for Kenneth Gene Barrett of Bristow, Oklahoma

Kenneth Gene Barrett was born October 24, 1929 in Clarendon, Texas. The first child of Van and Josephine (Hiett) Barrett. Kenneth departed from this life July 19, 2016 at 86 years old. He attended Wyatt School, a one room schoolhouse, then graduated from Bristow High School in 1946. He was an officer in Bristow FFA and worked at a local dairy while attending high school. After graduation, he traveled to California where he then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, he served from 1948-1950.

Devin Bliss Lundberg was born on November 20th, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nevada. From Las Vegas he moved to Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 4. He lived in Owasso until he was 14. He moved to Spanish Fork, Utah for his 8th grade school year only to return to Oklahoma, this time moving to Bristow his final years.

Wilcox Oil Superfund Site Meeting Thursday

An open house is scheduled for Thursday, July 21st at the Bristow Public Library to discuss the Wilcox Oil Company Superfund site. There will be a presentation at the start to update the community on the field sampling planned to begin in September 2016. Following the presentation, EPA and ODEQ will be available to answer questions and discuss site activities.

Pat attended Bristow Public Schools graduating in 1990. He later attended and graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics. He had worked as an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines over 20 years. He was raised in the Bristow Holiness Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, helping his dad on the farm and spending time with his son and nieces and nephews.

Gunner Craig Smith was born September 5, 1999 in Cushing, Oklahoma. He departed this life on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 16 years, 10 months, and 2 days. Gunner being a good’ole country boy enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved helping his Papa mow the yard and spending quality time with his nephew, Brantley. He played baseball and football for both Sapulpa and Stroud. Gunner could often be found hanging out with his horse, “Patch” or his chicken, “Rose.” He also had a love for diesel trucks and the way they smelled. When Gunner would see a diesel truck, he would roll down the window, hang his head out and take in a deep breath and say, “Rollin’ coal.”

Edna graduated from Southern Normal High School in Brewton, Alabama. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Tulsa University and then attended Oklahoma University where she received her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Edna worked as a licensed Clinical Social Worker for many years.
