Kenneth Gene Barrett
October 24, 1929 – July 19, 2016
Kenneth Gene Barrett was born October 24, 1929 in Clarendon, Texas. The first child of Van and Josephine (Hiett) Barrett. Kenneth departed from this life July 19, 2016 at 86 years old.
He attended Wyatt School, a one room schoolhouse, then graduated from Bristow High School in 1946. He was an officer in Bristow FFA and worked at a local dairy while attending high school. After graduation, he traveled to California where he then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, he served from 1948-1950.
Kenneth and Paula Mae Hughes wed on February 19, 1949 in California. While in California, they had three children: Kenneth Paul, Lawrence Richard and Sharon Leslie. In 1956, the family left California to come home to the Kellyville/Bristow area and had another son, Gene Clayton.
Kenneth worked as a union cement finisher, raised registered Herford cattle and was a member of the association for many years. He enjoyed being a Dallas Cowboys fan, he loved to talk politics and was known for telling just a few cement finishing stories.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 67 years, Paula Barrett of Bristow, Oklahoma, son Kenny Barrett of LaCyne, Kansas, Larry Barrett of Greenport, New York, daughter Sharon Wall of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, son Gene Barrett and wife Glenda of Bristow, Oklahoma, brother Ronnie Barrett and wife Darlene of Bristow, Oklahoma, sister Delores Lippert of Bristow, Oklahoma, Aunt Eloise (Heitt) Braswell and husband Arnold of Shawnee, Oklahoma, grandchildren Jennifer and Larry Johnston, Kenny Wayne and Ruby Barrett, Keith and Jamie Barrett, Brendon and Ashley Barrett, Malarie and Ryan Gotcher, Caitlin and TJ Lowther and Sonya Barrett, four great grandchildren, Austin, Luke, Jeremiah Johnston and Conner Barrett. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am, Friday, July 22, 2016 at Hutchins Maples Matherly Chapel. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00–6:00 pm at the funeral home on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
