Gunner Craig Smith was born September 5, 1999 in Cushing, Oklahoma. He departed this life on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 16 years, 10 months, and 2 days.

Gunner being a good’ole country boy enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved helping his Papa mow the yard and spending quality time with his nephew, Brantley. He played baseball and football for both Sapulpa and Stroud. Gunner could often be found hanging out with his horse, “Patch” or his chicken, “Rose.” He also had a love for diesel trucks and the way they smelled. When Gunner would see a diesel truck, he would roll down the window, hang his head out and take in a deep breath and say, “Rollin’ coal.”

Gunner is survived by his mother, Chasity Simms and her husband, David of Bristow; his father, Dennis Skow and his wife, Elizabeth of Davenport; four sisters, Courtney Clark of Bristow, Ekkoe Smith of Bristow, Heather Pittenger and her husband, Kenneth of Davenport, Brooklynn Skow of Davenport; one brother, Nickalus Skow of Davenport; one nephew, Brantley Clark; one niece, Izzabella Pittenger; maternal grandparents, Phyllis Hildebrant and her husband, Ricky of Stroud and Johnnie Smith and his wife, Linda of Newalla; step-grandmother, Linda Simms of Dominguez Hills, California; paternal grandfather, Alvin Skow of Cushing; three aunts, Jamie Hodge of Wellston, Judy Summerville and her husband, Rick of Carson, California, Cassandra Meerick and her husband, Joseph of Torrance, California; and two uncles, Craig Smith and his wife, Kimberly of Stroud and Michael Simms of Domingez Hills California. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Blake Harris; great grandmother, Helen Cotter; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Skow; and “Peanut”.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Bristow with Reverend Gene Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Stroud City Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Gunner’s name at Bank First in Stroud.
