Laura Alice Brown

March 01, 1933 – January 16, 2017

Laura Alice Brown was born March 1, 1933 to Robert Jason and Alice May Parrick in Seminole, Oklahoma.  She departed this life, January 16, 2017 at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 15 days.

She attended schools at both Depew and Gypsy.  She had worked as a Pharmacy Tech and also owned and operated her own restaurant.  She was also the first female Mayor of Depew and also served on the city council for a number of years.  She was a member of the Depew First Baptist Church.

She loved cooking, canning and flower gardening.  In her younger years she enjoyed playing basketball, softball, riding horses and water skiing.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Alice Shibley and husband Steve of Sapulpa and Janis Carolyn Mann of Depew; one sister, Helen Henshaw and husband Gerald of Midwest City; two brothers, Pete Parrick of Depew and Delbert Parrick of Depew; four grandsons, Steve Shibley II, Justin Mann and wife Jennifer, Seth Shibley and wife Sarah and Adam Shibley and wife Ashley; eleven great grandchildren, Steven Shibley III, Sidney Shibley, Alan Shibley, Kelsi Shibley, Peter Shibley, Isaac Shibley, Samuel Shibley, Adelyn Shibley, Ace Shibley, Avery Kate Mann, Ryder Austin Mann and one more due on March 1st.  She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Depew First Baptist Church with Pastor James Lame officiating.  Interment will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery west of Depew.
